Beltane Vibes, Protest Sounds & Love

Tara Rez on Radio Reverb with Segs Jennings - May 1st Show

The shift from spring into summer has always felt magical — Beltane is here and with it, transformation is in the air. This week’s Radio Reverb show (1st May 2025) was alive with connection, protest, love, and raw creativity.

Outside, surrounded by nature, the show began flowing like the Beltane fires themselves. We vibed to the classic Love Is The Drug and spiraled into reflections on love, poetry and rebellion — from T Rex's timeless Beltane Walk (a nod to the poet within Marc Bolan) to the urgent sounds of modern protest.

Kneecap stormed in with razor-edged rhymes and political fire, making waves globally and standing firm for identity and resistance. Conflict returned after two decades with Cut the Crap, featuring the late great Benjamin Zephaniah — poetry, anger and truth woven into sonic defiance.

There were moments of tenderness and nostalgia too — from Rhoda Dakar’s Version Girl to Alabama 3’s Hypo Full of Love, all wrapped in stories and shared memories.

From Brighton to Palestine to Belfast to Scotland and back again, the soundtrack was rich, rebellious and resonant. That’s what radio is for.

Listen again & feel the pulse of it all —

.

Until next time — stay tuned, stay curious, and stay connected
